How can we help?

Plain answers about how DooZed works, what our support team can help with, and what to do in an emergency.

Contact support

In an emergency, call 911 or the Coast Guard first

If anyone is injured, in the water, or a boat is taking on water, call 911 or the U.S. Coast Guard before doing anything else. Contact DooZed support only after everyone involved is safe.

How DooZed works

Payments are not live on DooZed yet.

DooZed is a marketplace. We connect boat and jet ski owners with renters. We are not a party to the rental agreement between an owner and a renter, and we do not own, inspect, or insure the watercraft listed on the site. Once payments launch, we will charge a service fee on each booking, taken out of the owner's payout; renters will not pay a separate booking fee.

Renter verification

Before you can book, DooZed verifies your identity (confirming you are at least 18 years old) and requires an approved boater certificate on file. Both steps are shown on your Account page.

Booking requests

Sending a booking request creates an inquiry. Until payments launch, checkout is not available, so an owner cannot approve or decline a request and an instant booking cannot be confirmed. Once payments launch, checkout for a request-to-book listing will authorize your card without charging it. The owner will then have 24 hours to approve the request: your card will be charged once they do, and the authorization hold will be released if they decline it or do not respond in time. For an instant-booking listing, checkout will charge your card and confirm the booking right away.

What support can help with

DooZed support handles:

  • Account and sign-in problems.
  • Payments, refunds, payouts, and chargeback evidence, once payments launch.
  • App problems and bugs.
  • Trust and safety: fraud, scams, fake listings, harassment, or pressure to pay outside the app.

DooZed support does not handle:

  • Deciding fault or a damage amount between an owner and a renter.
  • Insurance claims.
  • Other disagreements between an owner and a renter. Use your booking messages to work those out directly.

Support is by email at support@doozed.com, or through the contact form. We usually reply within 1 business day. We do not currently offer phone or chat support.

Cancellations and weather

Once payments launch, refunds will work like this:

  • If you cancel a confirmed booking 72 hours or more before the trip starts: you will get a full refund of the rental charge.
  • If you cancel between 24 and 72 hours before the trip starts: half of the rental charge will be refunded.
  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the trip starts: the rental charge will not be refunded.
  • If the owner cancels a confirmed booking: you will receive a full refund of the rental charge.
  • If DooZed cancels a trip because of unsafe weather: you will receive a full refund of the rental charge.

For how to request, approve, decline, or escalate a weather cancellation, see Weather cancellation requests below.

Deposits

Security deposit holds are not live on DooZed yet.

Listings set a security deposit amount, separate from the rental charge. When deposit holds launch, the deposit terms will be shown at booking.

If you have a question about a deposit on a specific booking, contact the owner through your booking messages, or reach out to support.

Damage and claims

If a boat or jet ski comes back damaged, the owner can file a damage report on the booking, within 24 hours after choosing Record boat returned.

Filing closes 30 seconds before the 24-hour mark, so do not wait until the last minute.

When the watercraft comes back, the owner can record a return video on the booking's Dock handoff & condition reports page, under Return video. Recording opens 60 minutes before the trip's scheduled end. If the watercraft comes back earlier, it opens as soon as the owner chooses Record boat returned. It stays open for 2 hours after the owner chooses Record boat returned, or 2 hours after the scheduled end if that has not happened yet.

A damage report can still be filed without a return video. If none was recorded by the time the report was filed, the damage report and the evidence packet both say "No return video was recorded." That line reflects the moment the report was filed, and does not change if a return video is uploaded afterward. If a return video arrives after the report was filed, the evidence packet lists it separately.

Each booking can have one damage report. Once a report is filed, the renter can submit one response to it, with their own description and photos, for 72 hours.

Either the owner or the renter can open the evidence packet from the booking's Damage report & evidence packet page. It collects the check-in and check-out records, the damage report and response, the booking's messages, any departure-video records, any return-video records, and any signed documents in one place, so review it before sharing it with an insurer.

DooZed does not decide fault or a damage amount, and DooZed does not provide insurance. Any repair cost is between the owner, the owner's insurer, and the renter, including small claims court if it comes to that, using the evidence packet as documentation.

Deposit holds are not live on DooZed yet, so no deposit charge is made or decided through DooZed today.

Renters: open My trips. Owners: open Owner bookings. On the booking, owners choose Dock handoff & condition reports to record a return video. Either party can choose Damage report & evidence packet to file or respond to a report, or to open the evidence packet.

Questions about a specific booking can also go to Contact support.

Weather cancellation requests

Before a trip starts, the renter can request a weather cancellation on the booking. Each booking can have one weather cancellation request. The owner can approve or decline the request, or cancel for weather on their own without waiting for a request.

Renters can request or escalate, and owners can approve, decline, or cancel for weather, only before the trip starts. If the owner has not decided a request by then, the owner can no longer approve it, and the normal cancellation policy applies.

If the owner declines, the renter can escalate to DooZed once. A DooZed admin then reviews the escalation and either cancels the booking for weather or denies the escalation. An escalation stays open until a DooZed admin decides it, even if the trip start time has passed, and departure cannot begin until then.

An owner who approves a weather cancellation, or who cancels for weather on their own, does not have it count against them.

Renters: in My trips, choose Refunds, dispute & weather on the booking to request a weather cancellation or escalate a decline. Owners: in Owner bookings, choose Refunds, dispute & weather to approve, decline, or cancel for weather.

For the refund amount on a canceled trip, see Cancellations and weather above. For anything else, use Contact support.
